News Update - June 2008
Pure Lignin Environmental Technology was very well received at the 5-day Bio-energy Conference and Forestry Resources Expo in Prince George June 3-7. The trip was a great success! We’ve returned with many more requests for plant demonstrations as well as many new connections and possibilities within the industry. Director of Business Development Europe, Rolf Fyne is interested in promoting our technology in Europe. Chairman & CEO of ACDEG Group, Dr. David T. Fung offered advice on marketing in China. And the feedback from industry professionals just re-confirms how timely this technology is in an industry that is desperate for solution.
The company recently received its US Patent and has filed all the individual countries under the PCT. Due to the cost of these filings at this time, the portable demonstration plant is now due for completion within the next month. A feature story about the company was recently the “Focus of Entrepreneurs” in the Business section of The Daily Courier Wednesday June 4, 2008 The Natural Resource News Letter also did a feature story on Pure Lignin Environmental Technology at the Bio-energy/Forestry Expo (www/link will be available soon). Pure Lignin Environmental Technology is experiencing tremendous growth and exposure in the industry and looks forward to bringing you more good news soon!
News Update - May 2008
Article: Kelowna Daily Courier – Wednesday May 14, 2008 (by Steve MacNaull)
Okanagan’s greenness promoted in Asia Science and Technology Council exec touts Valley as
a good green business partner for Asian companies.
The Okanagan will be touted in Asia as a prime source of green expertise and supplies. “The Okanagan is a green leader and we have to let others know,” said Douglas MacLeod, Okanagan Science and Technology Council executive director who is representing the valley on a delegation to Beijing and Seoul. “We have the expertise, the technology and the supplies to help Asians with green building, manufacturing and power.” The Canada-British Columbia Green Building Mission is a federal-provincial initiative. The delegation leaves on Saturday and stops in Seoul for two days before traveling to Beijing, the site of the Olympics in August. There is a B.C.-Canada Pavilion in Beijing to promote Vancouver Olympics and our other attributes.
One of Canada’s strengths is green building and Asia has the potential
to be one of our biggest customers. The massive population
concentrations in Asia combined with economic development means there’s
an unprecedented building boom. “Half of the world’s construction will
soon be happening in China,” said MacLeod. “This is an opportunity to
make pitches to
Chinese architects and builders and put Okanagan companies at the forefront.”
Premier Gordon
Campbell is part of the delegation and will officially open the British Columbia-Canada pavilion.
MacLeod will also get the chance to make a presentation during which he will position the
Okanagan as the perfect green partner for Asian companies.
“I’ll use five Okanagan examples of
green technology and sustainable design,” MacLeod said.
They are:
- 1.Kelowna-based G Group, which is building the 800-acre Mckinley Resort as a green community.
- 2.Pure Lignin Environmental Technology, a Kelowna-based company turning beetle-killed wood and vegetation into biodegradable plastics and concrete filler.
- 3.Fibreglass maker FormaShape of Winfield, which is looking at using Pure Lignin’s plastics as well as developing its own soy-based resins.
- 4.Quantum Wind Power of Kelowna, which has developed a more powerful wind turbine for residential use.
- 5.Architect Jim Meiklejohn’s green designs for UBCO will also be held up as an example.
- 6. MacLeod was also involved in last weekend’s sustainable design events at the Life and Arts Festival in Kelowna.
“Good design is a competitive advantage,” he said.
“The thing with good design is it looks cool, but can also be very efficient and environmentally-friendly.”
